Community Service

In addition to medical care, teaching and hospital initiatives, our people are active in the community at large. Our long-term commitment to our neighborhoods and the world around us is demonstrated by active participation as team coaches, boy and girl scout masters, elders and vestry in churches and synagogues, student educators for area students with interests in anesthesia and medicine, outreach to children in Third World countries through Operation Smile and faith-related medical missions, charity medical work, Big Brother, Virginia Symphony, regional environmental groups, and many other efforts.

For several years, Atlantic Anesthesia has offered and provided numerous financial assistance grants and loans to nurses seeking financial assistance to pursue intensive training as student nurse anesthetists.

Our physicians, nurses, and administrators serve on community committees and support numerous organizations. The following organizations with which we’re involved focus on improving medical care to citizens of Hampton Roads:

• Leapfrog: helps patients make informed decisions about where to receive hospital care. (Atlantic Anesthesia hosted the 2005 Hampton Roads Leapfrog Symposium.)
